Le transatlantique « France » est un symbole de grandeur, et un sujet de grande fierté pour les français. Or en 1975, il rouille, amarré au « quai de l’oubli » du Havre.

L’immobilisation du « France » signifie la fin des traversées transatlantique pour le Havre et 2500 suppressions d’emploi…
La chanson est saluée par les syndicats et par le parti communiste.
Des grèves et des manifestations auront lieu à bord du navire.

n vain, car après son rachat en 1979, toutes les rénovations  sont entreprises en Allemagne et Miami devient son port d’attache.

« Le France », aujourd’hui encore, est la chanson que le public demande toujours à Michel Sardou, avant même la fameuse « Maladie d’Amour ».

The transatlantic liner “France” is a symbol of greatness, and a subject of great pride for the French. However, in 1975, she rusted, moored at the "harbour of oblivion"  in Le Havre.

The decommissioning of "The France" meant the end of the transatlantic crossings for Le Havre and 2,500 job cuts.
The song is hailed by the unions and the Communist Party.
Strikes and demonstrations would take place on board the ship.

In vain, because after its takeover in 1979, all renovations were undertaken in Germany and Miami became its home port.

"Le France", even today, is the song the public always asks of Michel Sardou, even before the famous "Sickness of Love".
